JBL Playlist - What's in the Box

FAQs & How-Tos

  • Can the JBL Playlist150 be used for multi-room solutions?

Yes, by using the Google Home application. Simply create a group, add your speakers together and then you have multiroom playability.

  • How does the One touch playlist selection work on JBL Playlist?

In our Quick Start Guide, there is a section under "One Touch Play Feature", where we explain how it works. We advise to take a look at it.

  • Can I use Bluetooth for my JBL Playlist speaker?

Yes, that’s the best part about this speaker, there are so many options. Besides streaming over Wi-Fi, the JBL Playlist also offers a Bluetooth connection and an AUX input

  • Can I stream music via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi from my device simultaneously?

Yes. The Google cast function works independent to that of Bluetooth, therefore you are able to Bluetooth connect to another device while casting audio to the JBL Playlist simultaneously. This feature is applicable on smartphones, tablets/iPad, and Bluetooth capable computers.

  • TuneIn Radio stations are not working properly with my Apple device.

If some Radio stations do not work as intended while using Chromecast with your JBL or Harman Kardon device through an Apple device, but other Chromecast applications have no issue, it is usually due to failure in TuneIn Radio's integration of Chromecast in Apple products. Android phones will not have this problem. We advise you to contact TuneIn Radio with the specific issue.

  • Will my music be interrupted if I want to use my phone for other purposes while casting?

Yes, when casting music to your JBL Playlist, your speaker is connected to Google Cloud, which will turn your smart device into a remote control, rather than streaming music directly to the Playlist. You can easily do other things with your phone while using Chromecast, such as gaming, texting, make calls, watch Youtube etc. This will not interrupt the music that you are casting.

  • Can I factory reset my JBL Playlist speaker?

Yes, the JBL Playlist can be reset to factory settings. First, Power ON the JBL Playlist. Secondly, press and hold the Play and Volume (-) buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds, and after 10 seconds you should see the Play/Pause and Bluetooth button light up, followed by the speaker going into Standby. Yes, it will only go back to default volume if the power is switched off or if the device is reset. The standard volume is set to 50%.

  • How many Chromecast built-in devices, can I connect through the multi-room mode?

The amount of Chromecast speakers you can stream music to depends on the bandwidth of your local wireless network. Theoretically, an unlimited amount of devices can be connected to stream the same song.

  • Does the Wi-Fi indicator on the front of JBL Playlist, has to be at full signal to work?

If the Wi-Fi indicator has all 3 LED lights on, then the signal to the speaker is extremely good, and if only 2 LED light up, then the signal will be good. If you only have 1 LED light or No LED light we suggest moving the speaker to a different location for a better Wi-Fi signal and better audio experience.

  • I experience delay on some Playlist speakers in my group. Can I do something?

First, open your Google Home application. Then find the speaker(s) that has a delay, while playing in a group. Tap the "three dots" icon next to the speaker, and select "Settings". Tap the "Group delay correction", and a new screen will appear. Adjust the delay by scrolling the bar to the right. You can adjust the delay up to "100 ms" per speaker. The best way to find the right delay for the speaker(s) is to play music to the group they are in, and adjust it to match the group while playing.

  • Is there a JBL app I can download to control the Playlist 150?

JBL didn't make a specific application for this speaker. It is using Chromecast built-in technology which means you can use the Google Home app for controlling the speaker. Please note that there are limitations on what you can do with our speaker.

No, the speaker needs to be connected to power before it can work.

  • Can I play Podcast via the Spotify app to my Playlist 150 speaker?

1: From your device, open the Google Home app. 2: Select the "devices" tab to see your available Chromecast devices. 3: Scroll to find the device card for one of the Chromecast available speakers you’d like to add to a group. 4: In the top right corner of the device card, tap the three dots icon, to enter the menu settings. 5: Tap Create Group. 6: The default name of the group is Home group. To rename the group, erase the name and type in something new. 7: You will now see a list of all available Chromecast devices. 8: To add or remove a speaker from the group, tap the check box next to its name, please note that at least two devices are required to create a group. 9: Tap Save, and your new Chromecast group is created. In any Google Chromecast streaming services, you will find the recently created group and the devices that are within the specific group.
