  • How much power does the Control Xstream use in standby-mode?

Power consumption in standby-mode is <2.0W for primary speaker and <0.5W for the secondary speaker.

  • Can I get wallmounts for Control Xstream

Please note that although the Control Xstream does have a threaded insert for brackets, JBL offers no brackets. Custom made wallmounts should be used.

  • Pressing Play/Pause button in short period of time is not resuming or pausing music right away

With some of the new mobile devices, pressing the Play/Pause button seems not to work, as devices require longer time to receive confirmation of the action. Please check on the JBL Control X wireless top panel LED indication that the command is received and acknowledged before pressing the Play/Pause command again. It can result in having to press the button two times quickly to activate the proper command before command acknowledgement times out.

  • Can I rename my Control Xstream

Yes, via the Google Home app. Press the three dot icon on the specific speaker, and select device settings. Press on the subject "name" and this will allow you to change the device name. Press save afterwards.

  • The Control X is an outdoor speaker, can I place it where ever I want?

The JBL Control X is built for outdoor and indoor purposes. If you are placing the JBL Control X outdoor, please be aware that it should not be exposed to directly to the elements (rain, snow, sunlight). We advise you to place the speaker under a roof so the connections on the back won't be exposed to outside sources. If you have placed it correctly under a roof, they can outlast all types of weather.

  • Can Control Xstream be connected by wire

Yes, Control Xstream uses both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHZ wi-fi networks.

  • Can I use a 3rd party wall-mounting system?

Yes, just be aware that you are responsible for correct installation when using 3rd party wall mounts. The included wall-mounting kit in the box fits perfectly and is good for outdoor or indoor use.

This speaker will go to standby mode after 10 minutes inactivity. It turn on when you start playing to it again.

Control Xstream is splash proof (IPX3). Which means that they can be used outside, but they should not be exposed to direct precipitation.

  • Can I mix my speakers, connecting a black speaker with a red speaker?

Speakers are associated with each other from the factory. If one of them fails, and you get a replacement, then you will need to follow the association section in the owner's manual, so you can pair your new speaker with the one you have. We do not recommend doing this to mix differently colored speakers, only if one of them becomes defective.

  • Are the Control X Wireless all-weather speakers?

No. Although the Control X Wireless have a rugged exterior and are portable, they are not all-weather speakers. Any direct exposure to harsh weather condition (rain, snow, extreme hot/cold temperatures) will damage the speakers.

  • Can I get a wall bracket for Control X Wireless?

Please note that although the Wireless version of Control X does have a threaded insert for brackets, JBL offers no brackets. The brackets for the Control X passive model cannot be used with the wireless version. Brackets for the wireless version must be custom made.

  • What is the connection between the speakers.

The wireless connection between the two speakers is a 2.4 GHz connection

  • When two pairs of JBL Control X Wireless are associated, how can I unlink them to two separate pairs, if I do not turn off the primary speaker first?

This is addressed in the owner's manual. After associating a group of four speakers, when deciding to go back to normal operation as two pairs, it is recommended to reset them to factory default settings, which requires associating speaker pairs again.

  • Does Control Xstream have Spotify Connect?

Yes, Control Xstream supports Spotify Connect, which can be used from the Spotify app if you have a premium account.

  • Can I stream Google Chromecast via my PC to Control Xstream?
