The JBL Control X is built for outdoor and indoor purposes. If you are placing the JBL Control X outdoor, please be aware that it should not be exposed to directly to the elements (rain, snow, sunlight). We advise you to place the speaker under a roof so the connections on the back won't be exposed to outside sources. If you have placed it correctly under a roof, they can outlast all types of weather.Was this helpful? Thank you for your feedback!

No, you can certainly take off the front grill if you like the design of the speaker without the grill. However, do not touch the tweeters or woofers, as they can be damaged if you touch them.
