  • What is Proposition 65?
    What is Proposition 65? Proposition 65 (“Prop 65”) is a California law that requires businesses to provide a warning before exposing individuals in California to any of 900-plus chemicals that California lists as a carcinogen or a reproductive toxicant (“Prop 65 List”). The list is available at: https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65/proposition-65-list. The law includes specific warning language that can be used by businesses to comply. The specific warning language is called a “safe harbor.” Why is Harman including this warning? The chemicals in products that require the Prop 65 warning can vary based on product type. Many of the chemicals on the Prop 65 List are common additives found in products such as jewelry, lamps, ceramic tableware, food, lead crystal glasses, electric cords, automobiles, beauty products, and furniture. Does this law apply everywhere? No, Prop 65 warnings are only required under California law. Are Harman products that display the Proposition 65 warning safe? Harman is committed to making products that comply with all applicable laws and that are safe to use. California’s Prop 65 is not a product safety law, but a chemical right-to-know law. We believe our products are safe when used as intended. I purchased this product outside of California, why does it include a Prop 65 warning? Harman sells products throughout the U.S. We do not know where each item will ship.   • What is social mode?
    If social mode is switched on, it is possible to connect up to three source devices. Either device can take over playing. It is the last source-device which presses play, which plays music.
  • What is the "Software" connection on the back of the product?
    This connection is intended for software and service updates only.
  • What is the battery life expectancy for Clip2?
    Up to 8 hours of play time, depending on how loud you play and the source material.
  • What is the best way to insert the ear tips?
    We recommend inserting the ear tips (L for left, R for right located at the end of the ear tip extension) in the ear first and then proceed to wrap the ear loop around your ear. Please make sure to try all three sizes to insure the most comfortable fit.
  • What is the Bluetooth Range?
    The Bluetooth range varies. However, you should get up to 15 meters (just under 50 ft) when using the product indoors. If you are using the headphones outside, conditions vary based on surroundings and body mass. For the best connectivity results, please make sure that the device you are paired to is in the front of your body.
  • What is the clip in the headphones box used for?
    A clip has been included to help ensure the best fit and security of the headphones. Placing the clip on the audio cord and attaching to the top back of your shirt you should be able to twist your head right and left without the clip pulling your ear.
  • What is the default function of the "Smart" button, before any changes have been done in the app?
    The Smart button activates Ambient aware settings: Off, Low, High.
  • What is the difference between EVEREST 100, 300 and 700 models?
    100 is in-ear, 300 is on-ear, 700 is over-ear.
  • What is the difference between HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 2.0a?
    You'll have all the benefits from HDMI 2.0, but with 2.0a you will also have HDR (High Dynamic Range). Don't confuse HDR with cameras, this is used for TV's that support HDR content. In short, if a Blu-Ray supports HDR, it can enhanced dark scenes from a movie with this option.
  • What is the difference between JBL Go 3/Clip 4 and JBL Go 3 ECO/Clip 4 ECO?

    The difference is that the new ECO versions of Go 3 and Clip 4 are made from 90% PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) plastic and wrapped in 100% recycled fabric on the speaker grille, while still delivering the same rich JBL Original Pro Sound and significantly reducing the carbon footprint of the product.

  • What is the difference between Quantum SPHERE 360 and Quantum SPATIAL 360?
    You can get the professional sound precision and accuracy with head-tracking enhanced JBL QuantumSPHERE 360™ on your PC while gaining sound immersion with JBL QuantumSPATIAL 360™ on your platform. JBL QuantumSPHERE 360™ is accessed through the USB-C dongle/adaptor on your PC passing through the QuantumENGINE. The JBL QuantumSPATIAL 360™ is accessed on consoles through the USB-C dongle/adaptor works without the JBL QuantumENGINE.
  • What is the difference between Soundgear and Soundgear BTA?
    The difference is the BTA unit, which is a Bluetooth transmitter. The Soundgear BTA comes with the BTA unit in the box. The Soundgear does not. The BTA can be connected (with a signal cable) to a TV set, a CD player, or any other stereo line-level source, and can then stream this signal to the Soundgear wirelessly, via Bluetooth. TV sound or game sound are possible, since the BTA and the Soundgear use aptX Low Latency, which reduces the audio delay to levels, where picture and sound will be closely synchronized. This is also the secret behind the option to connect two Soundgears to one BTA unit, for two people to share a TV transmission, or a video game. Actually, you can use the BTA to stream to most other Bluetooth headphones and loudspeakers, but only if these devices also support aptX LL will the delay be low enough for video use.
  • What is the difference between the 10.000 and the 20.000 mAH battery size stated on the box?
    The physical battery in Boombox has a capacity of 10.000mAh @7.4V. This is the charged battery storage. When outputting ( so power from the battery is drawn ), it's using 3.7V, half the storage voltage, which will give you 74Wh - equivalent to a 20.000mAh battery with power stored at 3.7V.
  • What is the difference between the 5000 and the 10000 mAH battery size stated on the box?
    The physical battery has a capacity of 5000mAh @7.4V. This is the charged battery storage. When outputting ( so power from the battery is drawn ), it's using 3.7V, so half of the voltage, which will give you 37Wh - equivalent to a 10.000mAh battery with power stored at 3.7V
  • What is the difference between the cable with silver and the cable with black plugs?
    Since there is no fixed standard for headphone connections, there are two cables in the box, with different polarity. If one cable does not give good audio results, try the other cable. This usually solves the problem. The majority of phone models (Apple, Samsung from Galaxy S2 model, LG, HTC, Sony, Motorola, Blackberry) require the audio cable with the silver plugs. Pin assignment in this cable from the tip of the plug: R/L/Ground/Microphone. However, some manufacturers, such as some models from Nokia, require a cable with different pin assignment, (R/L/Microphone/Ground). In this case, you should use the audio cable with the black plugs.
  • What is the difference between the Endurance Sprint and Endurance Jump?
    The Endurance Jump features the power hook which provides a secure fit ear hook design, which automatically turns the power on/off when putting on or taking off the earphones. The Sprint does not feature the power hook and you manually have to turn on/off the headphones by pressing and holding the JBL logo on the RIGHT ear hook.
  • What is the difference between the first and second generation of Under Armour headphones?
    Wireless: Old name is Headphone Wireless. New name is Sport Wireless. Body is re-designed, the new body is smaller in diameter, but a bit longer. Angle of sound tube is changed slightly. Audio performance is improved. Enhancers slightly changed. Heartrate: Old name is Headphone Wireless Heartrate. New name is Sport Wireless Heartrate. Construction and design are unchanged.
  • What is the difference between the Focus 500 and the Focus 700?
    The only difference between the 500 and 700 series is that the 700 model provides you with a charging case. The features and functionality on the actual headphones themselves are the same.
  • What is the difference between the Inspire 500 and the Inspire 700?
    The only difference between the 500 and 700 series is that the 700 model provides you with a charging case. The features and functionality on the actual headphones themselves are the same.
  • What is the difference between the SB 250 and SB 350?
    The SB 250 has optical and auxiliary connections, while the SB 350 has both connections along with HDMI ARC. The SB 250 has the JBL SoundShift feature (one-button switch between TV and Bluetooth connection), while the SB 350 does not. Compared to the SB 250, the SB 350 has a more powerful subwoofer amplifier. The bigger amp will provide listeners with more bass response.
  • What is the difference between the Studio 2 and Arena Architectural speaker series?
    Apart from the driver materials, both the Studio 2 and Arena architectural speakers are quite the same. However, the Studio 2 series does deliver better high frequency versatility, thanks to the pivoting and level adjusting feature for the tweeter. The pivoting feature allows you to position/direct the tweeter toward the listening area. The level adjusting feature allows you to tune the high frequency (Zero to -3dB) as needed. These features are also available on select Harman Luxury Architectural speakers (Revel) as well.
  • What is the distance between wall-mounts on JBL BAR soundbars

  • What is the expected playing time on a fully charged battery?
    Playing time is up to 20 hours.

  • What is the length?
    JBL Bar 9.1 is 884 mm (without the surrounds in charging position). Surrounds add approx. 160 mm on each side, in charging position.
  • What is the procedure to reset Xtreme?
    With the speaker ON, press and hold the VOL+ and Pause/Play buttons for 5-6 seconds. The Xtreme shuts down, and is now reset. You will need to 'forget' the speaker in Bluetooth settings on your phone/tablet in order to pair it again.
  • What is the purpose of having dual tweeters on a speaker?
    Speakers will dual tweeters gives listeners the ability to have a single speaker to drive two independent channels, ideally stereo left and right. Dual tweeter speakers are usually used for in-ceiling audio applications. They have four terminals (two sets of positives and negatives) used to plug in speaker wires from the amplifier.
  • What is the purpose of the audio level adjustment on in-wall/in-ceiling speakers?
    The audio level adjustment is a dedicated control for adjusting the tweeter’s high frequency volume. It allows you attenuate up to 3dB, based on your environment and/or preference.
  • What is the range of JBL LIVE headphones? How far can I go from the source device, while listening to my JBL LIVE headphones?
    The range is approximately 10 meters, depending on the environment.
  • What is the requirement for the JBL Everest GA series?
    These are the supported languages for the Everest GA series.

  • What is this new simultaneous voice assistant experience?

    Now, with Google Assistant and Alexa available simultaneously on your JBL Authentics speakers, you can choose to use one or both voice services available. This means you can set up just Alexa, just Google Assistant, or both. If you choose to set up both services, they will be at the ready. You can use either of them whenever you want simply by saying either “Hey Google” or “Alexa”.

  • What is TruNote™ Auto Sound Calibration?
    Headphones are tuned on a finely calibrated, standardized fixture to meet our target sound profile – but our heads are not finely tuned, calibrated fixtures so the sound we actually hear is different from the designed curve due to variations in how the headphones fit on each of us, meaning most people do not hear the target sound of the headphone.    Harman’s TruNote auto calibration technology is a patented algorithm that calibrates the sound of the headphone to each individual by measuring the unique fit of the headphone to the user.  The system automatically adjusts the sound of the headphone, creating a personalized equalization that restores the sound of headphone to the design target.   • What kind of data does JBL LINK 10, 20, 300 or 500 collect?
    Only data to make Google Assistant more efficient and Google services faster. When interacting with the speaker you will receive more personalized feedback in the future.
  • What kind of enhancers come on the ITX 2000?
    The ITX models come with two sizes: size 5 and the larger size 7. They are referred to as the Limited Edition lock tongue and groove enhancers. You can purchase two pairs for $10 on the Yurbuds accessories and enhancers page.
  • What material are the ear cushions made of?
    The ear cushions are made of protein leather.

  • What platforms can I use with my JBL Quantum TWS?

    The JBL Quantum TWS supports two types of wireless connection at the same time. It's compatible with any Bluetooth compatible devices while the USB wireless dongle enables compatibility with PC/Mac, PS4/5, Nintendo SwitchTM, TV and iPads and AndroidTM devices with USB-Connection (Note: Type-C supports PS5 while type-A is compatible with all PlayStationTM model).

  • What size of enhancers come on this model?
    The standard size that comes on all Endurance Series models is the size 5. There are other sizes 6, 7, and 8 available on the yurbuds accessories and enhancers page that you can purchase for $10. Shipping and Handling is included.
  • What size speakers do you recommend for best sound performance?
    It's matter of preference and choice, but our biggest speaker, Arena 180, will have the most powerful sound , but also requires some space. Our bookshelf speakers, Arena 120 & Arena 130, are also a nice addition to your home system, and will also provide powerful sound. These can be wall-mounted, which you might prefer over floor standing speakers. All of the Arena series will provide a good audio experience, so you won't go empty handed with any of them!
  • What smartphones and MP3 players are compatible with the 3-button controls and dry mic on the Inspire® Pro and the Focus® Pro?
    The Inspire Pro and the Focus Pro Performance Fit earphones both feature a dry microphone and 3-button control remote. These features allow convenient navigation of music on your iPod® or iPhone® during rigorous activity even during extended use. The components within the 3-button control/ dry mic® are specifically selected for compatibility with: iPhone® (3GS, 4, 4S, 5), iPod® (120GB & 160GB classic; 4th, 5th, & 6th generation nano; 3rd & 4th generation shuffle), iPod® Touch (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation) and iPad® (1, 2, 3, 4). Some features may work with other devices.
  • What to do if teammates can't hear you?

    If your teammates can not hear you, make sure of the following:

    USB is correctly plugged in
    Only one voice chat application is in use while in-game.
    The mic input is set to JBL Quantum Stream.
    Mic gain is not turned all the way down
    Mic is not muted (mute/unmute by pressing the touch panel on top of the mic). By default the RBG will indicate red for muted, and green for unmuted(active).

     

  • What works better for stereo listening, in-wall or in-ceiling speaker?
    In-wall speakers will work better for stereo listening because the speaker will be facing directly at you instead of above you. Note: Stereo imaging requires the listening position (“sweet spot”) to be dead center, equal distance, from the front left and right speakers.

    Getting started with the checklist

    • A JBL LINK device(s).

    • A Google Account (you can create one online via Google).
    • A mobile device with either iOS or Android support.
      • ​Must have iOS 10 or higher

      • There is no support for PC set up.
    • An internet connection from your local ISP (Internet Service Provider).
    • Your Wireless Network must secured with WPA2 Encryption (Enterprise mode NOT supported). 
    • Availability and performance of certain features, services and applications are device- and network-dependent and may not be available in all areas; subscription(s) may be required, and additional terms, conditions and/or charges may apply.

    Wi-Fi requirement

    • Wi-Fi routers must have Encryption enabled to install JBL LINK speakers (WPA2 etc).
    • Wi-Fi Extenders need to feature support of Multicast forwarding and UPnP.
    • Always use 5 GHz Wi-Fi for best performance and less interference.
    • For routers that have 2.4G Wi-Fi support only, make sure that they are using channels 1, 6 or 11 only.

  • What’s the difference between JBL QuantumSURROUND and JBL QuantumSPHERE 360?
    JBL QuantumSPHERE 360 is JBL QuantumSURROUND that’s kicked up a notch by using a head-tracking sensor to fix sounds in 360 degrees of space around you. With typical headphones, when you move your head, the soundscape follows your movement. But with JBL QuantumSPHERE 360, if you rotate your head, the sound source’s perceived location stays in place because the head-tracking sensor compensates for your head movement. For example, if there’s a sound coming from in front of you, and you turn your head to the left, the sound source’s perceived location moves to your right ear—the sound stays locked in space as you move your head. 

    Also, the human brain uses small head movements to distinguish if sound sources are behind or in front of us. The brain processes the differences between when a sound arrives at the left vs. the right ear to determine where the sound is located. So with JBL QuantumSPHERE 360, you can move your head naturally to pinpoint the exact source of sounds around you. 
  • When Alarm goes on, the phone it is not playing on the JBL Control X
    Alarm sound function in Bluetooth connectivity is not supported in iOS devices, however it is supported in Android devices.
  • When changing the volume on my JBL LINK 10, 20, 300 or 500, the front LED indicator slowly lights up. Is this normal?
    Yes, when changing volume to higher or lower, the LED will illuminate to show that you are changing the volume.
  • When do I know the Trip battery is completely charged?
    The led indicator will be solid blue.
  • When I am trying to program my Cinema SB100, 200 or 400 to learn the volume up, down and the mute codes from my TV remote controller, I can only get mute, or perhaps mute and a volume code, to work correctly. What is wrong?
    This problem is usually caused by pressing down too hard on the soundbar's VOL + or VOL - Buttons. Only press just enough for one click to be felt. If a second click is felt in the button, you are pressing too hard, and you are actually activating the MUTE function for learning, not VOL up or down. You may have to repeatedly let go of the VOL button on the soundbar, followed by pressing it again and then pressing the VOL button on the TV remote before the surround light on the soundbar lights up white and goes back to amber flashing, as a sign that this function has been learned. This is no problem, though. Just keep trying until the three commands have been learned. The soundbar only exits learning mode when you press and hold the surround button as the final step.
  • When I connect JBL DRG with my head unit via Bluetooth, the audio stream will be interrupted and I can hear “papapa…” noise when play music.
    • Please check whether your head unit Bluetooth support EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) • If the head unit does not support EDR this will cause the transfer data rate to be low and will impact the audio quality.
  • When I connect my JBL speaker with a computer (PC/Laptop/Apple Mac/Nintendo Switch), can I use the PartyBoost feature?
    The PartyBoost feature is not available when your JBL speaker is connected to a computer via Bluetooth. This is a technical limitation. When connected to a computer, the computer is acting as the primary device. Therefore, the JBL speaker does not have control of re-transmitting the Bluetooth signal to other JBL speakers.

    NOTE: Speakers effected by this are the JBL Flip 5, JBL Flip 6, JBL Charge 5, JBL Pulse 4, JBL Xtreme 3, and JBL Boombox 2, as well as all future products featuring the PartyBoost feature.
  • When I put smart phone on the Smartbase wireless charge arm, it doesn’t charge.
    The wireless charge receiver in the smartphone may not be adequately coupled to the wireless charging transmitter on Smartbase. Re-adjust your smart phone’s position on the wireless charge arm.
  • When I transfer the audio from JBL DRG to my head unit via AUX, I can hear noise from the speakers.
    Some vehicles don’t provide an isolated ground for the head unit which may introduce noise. Please connect your smartphone to JBL DRG and enable the “Aux Noise Cancel” button in the App. This can be found right after Aux Line option in Connection Mode section.
