A high-fidelity, innovative 1" (25mm) dome tweeter to complement any car’s sound system.

The JBL® GTO Series high-fidelity automotive speakers feature innovative technologies that we’ve engineered for the environment and conditions in today’s cars. The GTO18t is a stand-alone, 1-inch (25.4-millimetre) component tweeter that features innovative JBL technologies such as the edge-driven Mylar®-titanium My-Ti™ tweeter design with a high sensitivity of 92 decibels at 2.83 volts /1metre. Add it to an existing speaker system for better high-frequency response or use it as a replacement and upgrade for a tweeter in a factory-installed sound system. The tweeter’s robust 150-watt peak power input (with a very respectable 50-watt RMS) means that it’ll kick out great sound all day long. Other unique features ? such an included passive crossover network and the I-Mount™ (U.S. patent no. 5,859,917) and Starfish™ tweeter mounting systems ? provide even greater installation flexibility, so you can more easily achieve the ultimate in-vehicle sound experience. Easily installed and built to last, the JBL GTO Series speakers bring music to life in your car.

JBL engineers designed the GTO18t component tweeter to produce strong, clear sound from a head-unit or amplifier capable of delivering up to 150 watts of power. This makes the GTO18t an ideal tweeter upgrade for systems powered with head-unit or factory amplifier power, or even with many of the GTO Series amplifier combinations to help keep up with systems that feature one or more subwoofers. And the tweeter’s great power-handling specifications increase reliability over its lifetime.
The edge-driven My-Ti (mylar-titanium) tweeter design in the GTO18t tweeters increases overall power handling while reducing high-frequency distortion. An edge-driven tweeter also has better dispersion characteristics and allows for a lower crossover frequency, which improves imaging. The result is improved vocals and clarity in music. There’s no sense having it loud if it doesn’t sound clean, too.
The GTO18t includes the I-Mount tweeter-mounting system, which allows easy flush or surface mounting, giving you more installation options. In addition, there’s also a special Starfish bracket system that allows the tweeter to be easily mounted in a factory dash or door speaker location originally intended for a larger (up to 3-1/2-inch or 89-millimetre) midrange driver and still easily install behind the factory grille.
A dedicated high-pass passive crossover network increases power handling and musical clarity in the GTO18t. It also provides protection for the tweeter and a more contoured filtering at the high-pass crossover point.
High sensitivity allows a wide range of power to have positive results without overdriving the audio system. With a sensitivity of 92 decibels at 2.83 volts/1 metre, the GTO18t achieves excellent volume and musicality with as little as 5 watts RMS, which means better performance overall with very moderate power driving the tweeter. It makes the tweeter ideal for adding high-frequency response, even when you’re using it to augment a factory system’s existing speakers or to replace other tweeters for a true upgrade in the sound.
JBL technicians specifically evaluate each GTO Series speaker model in the development stages for overall and vocal-range voicing, intermodulation distortion (IMD) and performance at the limits of electrical and mechanical design. We also test according to strict carmaker reliability standards, both in development and in final production. All of these details are virtually unique to JBL car speakers, as most competitors do not even come close to this level of detail and oversight. It’s a difference you hear in the finished product. It’s what gives GTO series speakers the high-end performance at a moderate price.
