The internal cable is about 5 cm long, including the micro-USB plug. The flexible part is about 2.4 cm. This length has been chosen to permit the case to be closed without the cable being in the way, or be closed with a pair of in-ear headphones inside the box. In-ear types with big battery boxes or remote controls may not fit inside the closed case. On-ear or over-ear types will often have the charging socket placed in such a manner that you can arrange the cable to reach the socket.
