FAQs & How-Tos

  • This is because most Windows do not support A2DP stereo audio streaming via Bluetooth, the standard for music-listening through Bluetooth. The system will support keyboards, mice, printers etc. via Bluetooth, but not audio. It is necessary to download the proper drivers, either from the computer manufacturer, the software manufacturer or the manufacturer of the Bluetooth chip in the computer. Help to do this must be sought with the companies that supply one or more of these computer features.
  • If the buttons on your portable speaker are not working properly or are unresponsive while plugged into a power source, please try running the speaker on battery. If the buttons perform correctly while running on battery, this means your power supply is not providing enough current/amps. Be sure to use a power supply that has a rating equal to or greater than the amperage rating indicated in your product specs.
  • No, for now it is only possible to connect two speakers together using the JBL connect feature. Newer JBL products feature JBL Connect+, which allows you to connect > 100 devices simultaneously, these however are not compatible with older JBL products featuring JBL Connect
  • No, JBL Flip 4 can wirelessly link with JBL Connect+ compatible speakers only. Currently, the Flip 4, Pulse 3 and Charge 3 ( after a firmware upgrade ) have the JBL Connect+ feature
  • By pressing Volume - & JBL Connect button for 3 seconds. A voice will tell you the current software version.
  • When the Xtreme is ON, the row of 5 diodes at the bottom of the front will light up in turn, with the top flashing LED showing how far charging has progressed. When full charge has been reached, all diodes light constantly. In some cases, the fifth diode keeps on blinking, but does not light up constantly, no matter how long charging continues. Sometimes it will show constant light after charging has been stopped. This is normal, caused by tolerances in the circuits, and is no cause for alarm. The battery is charged to the same level. If the Xtreme is OFF, no diodes will light when full charge has been reached.
  • No, all recordings made on the telephone will be using the telephone's built-in microphone. Replay of the recording will be heard over the speaker afterwards, though, as long as it is paired to the telephone.
  • There can be differences in the internal hardware that also implies different firmwares. These products feature the same specifications and performance expectations. If the app does not inform you of any new updates, the firmware is current and the product is performing as designed.
  • The JBL Xtreme will not be supported by the JBL Portable app while using Apple devices with iOS 14 or later versions due to incompatibility.
You can continue to use the speaker through Bluetooth or Aux connection and manual pairing, but cannot stereo pair with another Xtreme through the JBL Portable App.
There is no plan to release a new Firmware currently as the JBL Xtreme has been discontinued.

If you still wish to use JBL Xtreme with the JBL Portable app, please connect it with Apple devices with iOS 13 or below, or connect it with Android devices.
  • The JBL Xtreme will no longer appear in the JBL Portable app while using Apple devices with iOS 14 or later installed, due to incompatibility.
You can continue to use the speaker as normal with these devices through Bluetooth or Aux connection, but it will no longer appear in the app.
There are currently no plans to release a new Firmware as the JBL Xtreme has been discontinued.
