  • Is it possible to remove the handle from Boombox?

    No, the handle is fixed.

  • How to reset Boombox

    In power ON mode press and hold the "Volume +" and "Play" buttons at the same time for more than 3 seconds -> Unit will power Off by itself. Now the unit is reset to factory default.

  • What is connect+?

    JBL Connect+ can wirelessly link more than 100 JBL Connect+ enabled speakers together to amplify the party

  • How to Re-establish Battery Performance

    Harman continuously strives to improve the performance of our speakers through software updates in the JBL Connect App. To optimise battery life and performance for your speaker, please perform a software update:
    • First download the JBL Connect App from the App store or Google Play store to your mobile device.
    • Then connect to the speaker by Bluetooth.
    • Open the JBL Connect App and select settings to check and install the new Software version.
    • The red dot indicates the presence of an update (see image below).

  • How do I activate the SIRI® and Google Now™ voice assistant integration on my JBL Boombox?

    1) Download and run the latest JBL Connect app on your phone 2) The JBL Connect app will begin discovering your JBL Boombox (please make sure your speaker is connected via Bluetooth first) 3) Use the toggle switch in the JBL Connect App to change the phone button to now have the voice assistant function 4) Simply press the “Play” button on your JBL Boombox (you will hear a brief tone) and begin speaking your commands via SIRI and Google Now. 5) Please check the below links for more information regarding SIRI and Google Now available voice commands: SIRI: https://support.apple.com/HT204389 Google Now: https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/2940021

  • Setting up your PartyBoost speakers in stereo mode

    1. Turn on both speakers

    2. Pair one speaker to your device only

    3. Start streaming content to that speaker

    4. Go into Connect app

    5. Allow the app to detect the single speaker playing content

    6. Once detected, press the Connect button on both speakers

    7. Allow the app to identify both speakers

    8. You should now see the option for both Partymode and Stereo Mode

    9.  Before switching to Stereo Mode, play > 5 seconds of audio in Partymode

    10. Now turn on stereo mode within app

  • Pairing issues with a Computer or PC

    In most cases when a Computer/PC/Laptop has issues connecting to a Bluetooth device (Portable speaker, Headphones, Active speakers), it's caused by your Computer/PC/Laptop's Bluetooth driver (software).

    The driver (software) should support the following Bluetooth protocols, to be able to play music/sound from your Computer/PC/Laptop:

    • A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) driver for your Computer/PC/Headphones to transfer music.

    • AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) driver to send skip/forward/pause/play music to your device

    Always get the latest driver version available for your Computer/PC/Laptop.

    To download the correct driver (software), visit the manufacturer's website of your Computer/PC/Laptop. They usually have a "Support/Download" section where you can find the correct driver. Otherwise, we advise you to contact their support.

    The standard drivers provided by Microsoft/Windows system are not correct and will result in error messages (such as having to enter a PIN code), or pairing will not work.

  • What are the differences between Partyboost and Connect+

    Our newest products, such has JBL Pulse 4 and JBL Flip 5, feature a new technology called Partyboost .

    Partyboost technology
    • Improved Bluetooth connection between speakers.
    • A more powerful Bluetooth transmitter means that the speakers can be farther apart.
    • Connect hundreds of speakers.
    • Partyboost can only connect to other Partyboost speakers.
    All newer Portable products from JBL will have Partyboost integrated.
    Unfortunately, this feature is not backwards compatible with  previous models that have JBL Connect or Connect+.

  • Waterproof Information (IPX7)

    This unit is IPX7 rated, which means that you can submerge the unit in water as deep as 3 feet (1 meter) for up to 30 minutes.

  • My device is waterproof, but what about salt water or chlorine water?

    Your JBL speaker is waterproof with IPX7 rating. (IPX7 means it can survive immersion in 1 meter/3.3 feet for up to 30 minutes.) To maintain the looks and functions of your speaker, please make sure to rinse it with fresh water after using it at a swimming pool or the ocean, then dry off all covers and areas where water can gather. The standard for waterproofing is for tap water. Chemicals and salt in your pool or the ocean can damage the waterproof seals or harm the surface finish over time if not rinsed off after use.

  • Indoor/Outdoor Mode

    The new Boombox 2 does not feature the Indoor/Outdoor Mode. With the first generation Boombox, the Outdoor Mode was loud, but lacking sufficient bass. The Boombox 2 has both improved bass and loudness to create the perfect balanced sound for all environments.

     
     
  • How many smartphones or tablets can connect to my JBL Boombox?

    You can connect 3 smart devices ( iOS or Android ) simultaneously by Bluetooth. One when connecting via AUX cable.

  • Does Connect plus work with an analog input or from PC?

    No, Connect+ is only supported on Bluetooth from mobile devices on which the JBL/HK Connect+ App can be installed.

  • Do I need to close the USB cap for the speaker to be waterproof?

    Yes, it is needed to close the USB cap completely for waterproof.

  • Upgrading the software on your PartyBoost or Connect+ Speaker

    Software updates for your speaker can be done using the JBL Connect app.
    Download it from the Apple App store and Google Play store.
    If there is an available update, look for the small red dot above the gear icon and follow the download instructions (see image below).
    If you have an issue with your device it is always worth checking if there is a Software update available and performing the installation if there is.

  • How can I upgrade the software on my speaker?

    Software updates for your speaker can be done using JBL Connect app. Download it from Apple App store and Google Play store.

  • Information on different firmware versions on same products and models

    There can be differences in the internal hardware that also implies different firmwares. These products feature the same specifications and performance expectations. If the app does not inform you of any new updates, the firmware is current and the product is performing as designed.

  • How to Turn Off Startup Sounds and Change Speaker Name

    You can turn off startup/shutdown sounds and rename your speaker by using the JBL Connect app.
    First, connect your phone or tablet to the speaker and then select your speaker from the list in the JBL Connect app.

    Next, press the gear symbol Settings.png (top right) to go to settings.

    Now you will be able to see the button to turn off audio feedback sounds (slider left and grey background):

    Press the button again to turn audio feedback sounds back on (slider right and orange background):

    Here you can also rename the speaker by clicking the PenSymbol.png pen symbol.

    Please note: This is only possible for Bluetooth speakers that are compatible with the JBL Connect app.

  • Charging the Speaker When Wet

    You will need to dry the charging port completely before plugging in power for charging.
     
  • How do I pair my mobile device by bluetooth with the JBL Boombox?

    Turn the JBL Boombox on by pressing the power button. If your Boombox hasn't been connected via Bluetooth before, it will start up in pairing mode. To put it in pairing mode, hold down the Bluetooth button for atleast 3 seconds, until the light flashes blue. You are now in pairing mode. Locate the JBL Boombox on your device and pair them together. The two devices will sync together and you will hear a tone from the FLIP indicating it is successful.

  • PartyBoost support on the JBL Connect and JBL Connect+

    The new PartyBoost does not support the previous Connect and Connect+ features. For example: You will not be able to successfully connect the new PartyBoost enabled Flip 5 with a Connect+ enabled speaker like the Pulse 3 or Flip 4. You will not be able to connect the Boombox 2 to the original Boombox speaker.

    1. First, try to restart the Bluetooth connection on your source device (Smartphone/tablet/PC) by switching Bluetooth off and on again with a short pause in between.

    2. "Forget" (remove) the previously paired connection (on your smartphone/tablet/PC) in your Bluetooth settings if you had once paired with your product.

    3. Try to restart the source device (Smartphone/tablet/PC) by powering it off and on again and after restarting, try to establish a Bluetooth connection to your product.

    4. If the above does not work, then try to restart your product (Portable speaker, Headphone) by turning it off and on again.

    5. Press and hold down the Bluetooth button on your device (Portable speaker, Headphones) to initiate pairing mode again.

    6. Go into the Bluetooth settings on your Smartphone/tablet or PC to start the pairing process.

    You should now have a successful pairing with your device. If you are still experiencing issues, please contact us again.

    • Bluetooth signals cannot travel through water, which includes the human body. Make sure with wireless headphones to keep your source device and the receiver on the same side of your body.

    • Open spaces such as parks can cause issues for your devices, as open air is "bad" for any Bluetooth signal if it cannot reflect from objects around you.

    What is Bluetooth technology?
    Bluetooth technology is a wireless technology that exchanges data (Music etc.) over short distances from a mobile device.
    Bluetooth range depends on your surroundings (reflection from objects) and what chipset is being used (some can go 1 meter, 10 meters or 100 meters).
    Our Bluetooth devices typically supports up to 10 meter distance from the source device.

    Explaining the different Bluetooth profiles used in our devices:
    Many of our Bluetooth devices have a specification sheet like Bluetooth Profiles Supported: A2DP v1.5/AVRCP v1.6. These are the protocols that a specific Bluetooth speaker or Headphone device is compatible with. This might look too technical for some customers, but all you need to know is that Bluetooth Speakers and Headphones they are the only ones with these profile that you need to be aware of:

    A2DP – A2DP stands for ‘Advanced Audio Distribution Profile’ and is a Bluetooth protocol that allows mobile users to stream high quality (stereo or mono) audio wirelessly. If you want to listen to your music on a pair of Bluetooth headphones or speakers, both devices need to support this.

    AVRCP – AVRCP stands for ‘Audio/Video Remote Control Profile' and controls remote functions such as pause/start/skip/forward.

    HSP – HSP stands for ‘Headset Profile’ and is a Bluetooth profile to enable a two-way wireless Headphone to be used with a Bluetooth smartphone. In our Headphones this is one of the most common Bluetooth profiles and supports simultaneous two-way (full-duplex) audio, but it does not support stereo audio.

    HFP - HFP Stands for 'Hands Free Profile'. This profile provides the same abilities as HSP does, but adds abilities such as redial last number called, voice dialing and call waiting.

    Note for HSP and HFP:
    You can also use it with devices other than phones, like your Computer/PC with a Bluetooth Headphone that could be used with a Bluetooth-enabled PC and VoIP software to place an Internet phone call (NOTE: some PC software requires different drivers for specific purposes like SKYPE - Always refer to the manufacturer of the PC/Laptop for help with setting this up).

  • Renaming of the JBL Connect App to JBL Portable

    The JBL Connect app will be renamed as JBL Portable on the App Store and Google Play store in January 2021, it will still be possible to find the app in each store by searching for either JBL Connect or JBL Portable.

  • What is the difference between the 10.000 and the 20.000 mAH battery size stated on the box?

    The physical battery in Boombox has a capacity of 10.000mAh @7.4V. This is the charged battery storage. When outputting ( so power from the battery is drawn ), it's using 3.7V, half the storage voltage, which will give you 74Wh - equivalent to a 20.000mAh battery with power stored at 3.7V.

  • What can I do with the Connect app?

    It is possible to rename the Bluetooth name of the primary connected device and set the Party or Stereo mode. If a firmware upgrade is available for any Connect or Connect+ compatible speaker, this can be installed through the app. Only identical products can be set to stereo mode. Please note that, even though you can pair a Boost TV with JBL Connect, you cannot control this from the JBL Connect App

  • Can I use 2 JBL Boombox speakers in Stereo?

    Yes, from within the JBL Connect App, when you have 2 JBL Boombox speakers connected, set them in Stereo Mode. When you add a 3rd ( or more ) JBL Boombox speakers, they will automatically revert back to Party mode

  • Speaker Phone Information

    This does not feature an internal speaker phone and cannot be used for phone calls or other VoIP systems.
  • What do the leds indicate on my JBL Boombox?

    Power button, no light: Product is OFF. Power button, constant light: Product is ON. Power button: constant white, when no Bluetooth device connected. Power button, flashing blue in Bluetooth pairing mode. Power button, constant blue light: Bluetooth connected. Battery indicator LEDs: Five LEDs show battery level. When charging, the blinking LED shows how far charging has progressed. When fully charged, the LED lights will turn off. JBL Connect button flashes white in connection mode. When connected: constant light.

  • Battery Capacity Specifications

    The Boombox 2 features the same battery capacity as the first generation Boombox. The Boombox 2 battery specs have recently been changed in measurement specifications but still provides up to 24 hours of audio playback.
