12" (300mm) studio monitor for exceptional home audio.

For nearly 40 years, the JBL® 4310 has graced home theaters, providing studio-quality sound for those who crave the best audio. Now, JBL engineers have updated the popular speaker for the 21st century’s new forms of audio. The compact, three-way 4312D monitor leverages the same technology and advanced materials as its recording-studio counterparts. Driving the low-end frequencies is a 12-inch (300-millimeter), pure-pulp driver, which delivers realistic and resounding bass; the midrange frequencies emerge smoothly and accurately from a 5-inch (125-millimeter), polymer-coated, pure-pulp cone; the highs are covered by a 1-inch (25-millimeter) pure-titanium dome tweeter, which broadcasts frequencies up to 40kHz, well above the range of human hearing. The speaker comes with midrange and high-frequency attenuators so that you can tailor the speaker’s sound for the room where you install it. It measures only 14.25 by 23.5 by 11.7 inches (362 by 597 by 299 millimeters) without the front grille and weighs 34.5 pounds (17 kilograms), so you can use it as either a floorstanding monitor or a bookshelf speaker. Its cabinet is finished in an elegant black, which helps the speaker maintain its pro-audio look. If you’re a serious audiophile, the JBL 4312D is the speaker for you. It’s as close as you can get to bringing a studio into your home.

JBL engineers designed the JBL 4312D Studio Monitor to deliver enhanced, room-filling sound from a compatible AVR (audio/video receiver) or 25- to 100-watt power amplifier.
The 4312D’s non-bleached, non-colored, pure-pulp white woofer cone ensures low distortion and natural sound. The woofer’s rubber surround reduces resonances for enhanced durability. And a low-distortion magnetic circuit improves bass accuracy.
A polymer-coated, pure-pulp cone with double-pleated cloth edge ensures that the 4312D will generate smooth midrange sound reproduction, while a powerful magnetic circuit will increase power handling for dynamic performance at high volumes.
We’ve constructed the 4312D’s 1-inch (25-millimeter) high-frequency compression from titanium. The metal’s strength and light weight make it perfect for reproducing crystal-clear ultrahigh frequencies quickly, accurately and without strain or distortion – even when you crank up the volume.
A single front-mounted port in the 4312D provides optimal low-frequency tuning for extended bass response. It also allows you to place the speaker against a wall with no sound anomalies.
Adjustable midrange and high-frequency attenuators within a high-quality dividing network let you tailor the performance of your 4312D to match room acoustics or your personal taste. The power is yours.
JBL loudspeakers have been the choice of music and movie professionals for more than 60 years; they are behind the screens of more than 50 percent of all movie theaters and hang in concert venues everywhere. Many of your favorite songs and movie soundtracks were mixed or mastered on JBL studio monitors. But you don’t have to be a recording-industry pro to bring JBL sound home. Our home systems use technologies, materials and manufacturing techniques developed for professional speakers.
