Yes, you can activate the noise reduction circuits alone, with no connection to a source device by Bluetooth or cable. The headphones will stay on as long as there is power in the battery, which is close to 30 hours for pure NC function. Please note that there is a slight residual noise from the NC system, which will be drowned out by music playing, or by surrounding noise such as airplane noise. The EVEREST models 100, 300 and 700 are all updated with the HID (Human Interface Device) tool, available in the download section for each model. This tool works with Windows computers only. The EVEREST ELITE models are updated with a USB tool available on the special Everest web page. This tool is available in both an Apple MAC OS version and a Windows version. This USB tool update is used for the first production run of ELITE models ONLY, and only once! You can turn the Heart Rate sensor off and still use the headphones for audio by placing your finger on the right earpiece for 3-4 seconds. You will hear an audio prompt stating, “Heart Rate disconnected” which will turn the Heart Rate sensor off. If you wish to turn the sensor back on, simply place your finger on the RIGHT earpiece again for 3-4 seconds until you hear the voice prompt stating that the Heart Rate sensor has been turned back on.Was this helpful? Yes it is possible to reset your speaker. The reset will remove all Bluetooth pairings and WiFi network settings. In power ON mode, press and hold the Power Button for at least 10 seconds, until the volume and input selector lights begin to flash. Your JBL Authentics L8 or L16, are now back to factory settings. It is possible to replace the ear pads, but there are details to consider. On Elite 700: The ear pads are held in place by a plastic plate with claws, and some of the claws will most likely break off when you remove the pad. You do this by grabbing under the edge where the fabric ends, then pulling hard outward. The claws will eventually let go, and some of them will break off, rattling inside the ear pod. The only way to get them out is to unscrew the speaker plate, lift it up, and shake out the broken-off claws. The new pads are simply centered over the speaker plate, and the claws pressed into the holes with a firm pressure. On Everest 700: The ear pads are glued into position with double-adhesive tape. Pull the old pads off with a forceful, steady pull, until the glue lets go. Make sure the software version installed is 1.9.0.1 or later for the Charge 6, which can be updated via the JBL Portable app.
You will then be able to enjoy lossless audio through a USB cable connection to your laptop or tablet.
Follow these steps to enable USB audio playback:
a. Enter USB Audio Playback mode
Make sure the speaker is turned on.
Press and hold the "Play" button on the speaker and connect a USB-C cable to the speaker, you'll hear a confirmation tone when USB Audio Playback mode is activated.
b. Revert to Bluetooth mode
The speaker will automatically switch back to Bluetooth mode when the USB cable is disconnected from the USB port.
c. Re-enter USB Audio Playback mode
To switch back to USB Audio Playback mode, reconnect the USB-C cable and repeat the steps.
A USB type A-C or type C-C shorter than 1,2m is recommended for optimal performance.
USB thumb drive playback is not supported.

Yes, the JBL Playlist can be reset to factory settings. First, Power ON the JBL Playlist. Secondly, press and hold the Play and Volume (-) buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds, and after 10 seconds you should see the Play/Pause and Bluetooth button light up, followed by the speaker going into Standby. Currently in Record, you can not customize ranges for each heart rate zone but you can customize your Max heart rate, which affects your zone ranges. To pair and connect to a different device, press and hold the bluetooth button located on the bottom of the right ear cup until you hear the audible voice stating "looking for device." Make sure the the device you are trying to connect to are in search mode. The headphones should display on "Discoverable Devices" within 2-3 seconds.
